About Dr. Rutstein
I have worked as a Doctor of Psychology, specializing in treating trauma-based disorders. During this decades-long journey, I’ve received extensive training in a diverse selection of healing modalities.
As a child I was terribly anxious and self-loathing. For years I struggled with these often crippling feelings and the ability to accept myself as I was. Even though I was well liked, I never much liked myself and didn’t understand why others enjoyed my company.
With no medications or clinical solutions available, I didn’t know how to ease this suffering.
At 11 years old I found a book on yoga in my mother’s bookshelf. Open to trying anything that might relieve my dis-ease, I read the book and began yogic and meditative practices.
The relief I found in these tools led me on a lifelong journey of understanding the mind and the true nature of human experiences and suffering.
Today, practicing meditation for over 50 years, teaching meditative practices for 25 years, and as a practicing psychologist, I have helped many others reduce their suffering, watching these souls become empowered enough to claim their strengths and live happier, more fulfilling lives.
In addition to having earned my Doctor of Psychology, I am a NJ licensed Clinical Psychologist, a Certified Mindfulness-Centered Somatic Therapist, and a Certified Health Coach. Additionally, I’ve devoted 30 years to the intensive study and practice of Zen. My work and life are equally informed by my clincal training and experience as well as by my decades of spiritual practice.
